Mad Skills by Walter Greatshell
Dec 30th

For this month’s BIG THRILL, I interviewed Walter Greatshell about his new book, MAD SKILLS…
Walter Greatshell’s new book, Mad Skills, has been described as “a modern classic” and “top notch in every regard.” It is the story of a teenage girl who awakens from a coma to find that her brain has been interfaced with an experimental supercomputer, making her the smartest person on Earth…and possibly the most dangerous.
Grim Reaper: End of Days by Steve Alten – Average Guy Review
Nov 24th
In his newest novel, author Steve Alten has penned a disturbing and thought provoking journey straight into the depths of darkness. Grim Reaper is a loose retelling of Dante’s Inferno set to the backdrop of a devastating plague outbreak on the island of Manhattan. The story follows a war veteran tortured by his past as he tries to traverse the streets of a dying metropolis in order to save his wife and daughter with the only known cure for the terrible disease. The only catch is that the cure possesses a side effect of vivid hallucinations that cause the landscape of Manhattan to shift from an urban jungle into the various circles of Hell described by Dante.
Robot Teaches Itself to Fire a Bow and Arrow

Interesting article from the folks over at Wired.com about a robot that has taught itself how to hit a bullseye. Link to the article and video below. We all know what comes next…SKYNET. Today it’s bow and arrows, tomorrow it’s shotguns, then nukes.

The Pharos Objective by David Sakmyster

The Pharos Objective by David Sakmyster
For this month’s Big Thrill, I interviewed a great author named David Sakmyster about his new book THE PHAROS OBJECTIVE…
In 1979, a scientific study tested whether psychics could actually “remote-view” the location of Cleopatra’s lost palace. Amazingly, they succeeded.
Inspired by this incredible true story, David Sakmyster created The Morpheus Initiative, an exciting new team of psychic archaeologists who seek out the world’s most enduring historical mysteries and mystical artifacts. The first book in a new series, The Pharos Objective, has the team pursuing the fabled treasure of Alexander the Great beneath the ruins of the Pharos Lighthouse, while contending with diabolical traps and an ancient society called “The Keepers”.

The Ark by Boyd Morrison – Average Guy Review
May 14th
You can usually find a great number of novels about any given subject, especially a lost treasure. But sometimes a story comes along that emerges as the definitive work on a particular topic. A few examples off the top of my head would be Raiders of the Lost Ark (it would take a dramatically new and skillful interpretation to top Indiana Jones, likely never happen, this was about the Ark of the Covenant NOT Noah’s Ark) and The Loch by Steve Alten (a great story and theory about the Loch Ness Monster). As a writer, after reading and seeing these stories, the chapter seemed to be closed for me on these topics. I now feel the same about Noah’s Ark. Boyd Morrison’s interpretation is so good that there’s little hope of topping it.
Aaron’s iPad Review
May 7th

I would like to preface my comments below by saying that I’ve been using the iPad for several weeks now and have tried to address some iPad complaints that I’ve heard. Also, I’ve tried to build some comprehensive thoughts about how the iPad functions under several different environments including the business and personal consumer spaces. So to my thoughts…

The Judas Strain by James Rollins – Average Guy Review
Apr 27th

The Judas Strain by James Rollins
James Rollins delivers another breathless, action packed blend of science and suspense. Nobody combines history, modern technology, and action like Rollins. Viruses set to consume the world, shadowy organizations, predatory bioluminescent squids, interesting locations including ancient ruins in Cambodia, angelic script, the secrets of Marco Polo…this is just some of what The Judas Strain (3rd in the Sigma Force series, 4th if you include Sandstorm as a prequel) has to offer. Like all of his other works, I highly recommend this novel. That being said, I would advise those just discovering Rollins to check out Ice Hunt, Amazonia, Subterranean, Sandstorm, or Map of Bones (1st Sigma Force novel) before picking up The Judas Strain.
Kronos by Jeremy Robinson – Average Guy Review
Apr 27th

Kronos by Jeremy Robinson
Jeremy Robinson has topped his previous efforts with his new book, Kronos. I felt that Kronos had just the right blend of history, science, Biblical speculation, and action. It contained a very cool and original monster and deeply intriguing characters. I also felt that this book wasn`t nearly as “over the top” as his previous novels, Raising the Past and Antarktos Rising. Don`t get me wrong, I like “over the top”, but I felt that Kronos appealed to a much broader audience, while still maintaining a comparable level of action.
